Howdy, nice of you to stop by.
My Timeline:
Grew up on a farm outside of Chase, was a freshman in Mr. Wittenberg's first science class, and did every activity except cheerleading, volleyball, and choir
Went to K-State, majored in Secondary Education, minored in Biology, got married
Taught 7th & 8th grade science, then high school chemistry, physics, and engineering at Hiawatha (the squiggly corner of the state)
Had 2 kids
Worked as an Instructional Designer at Emporia State University, helping professors teach with technology, working on STEM grants for K-12 teachers
Added a 3rd kid
Went back to teaching chemistry, earth science, and engineering at Olpe
Moved back to Chase when wife Mandy got a sweet gig at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center (Cheyenne Bottoms)
Made this cool webpage about myself
Things that are Kind of a Big Deal:
Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology
Certified to teach every science field, plus technology
Wrote and managed a half-million dollar National Science Foundation grant to create and pilot a programming curriculum specifically for rural students who want to do cool agricultural things
And a grant with the Coronado Quivira Museum in Lyons to make a digital Santa Fe Trail tour, was especially cool because I'm the 5th generation to live on our 1878 homestead that is crossed by the Trail
In our ample free time, we work on our "veggie empire", Plum Hill Farm, LLC
Educational Philosophy: It's all in here... (but I'd watch it at at least 1.5x speed)
